Had a great day yesterday - I passed my exam in Strategic Management in the Negotiational Society (Strategisk Ledelse i Forhandlingssamfudnet) with a rather good grade, which was about time - I haven't been able to genuinely relax for the past few weeks because of that exam..
Next project: Essay in Marxist Economics - due on February 16.
School starts on Tuesday, so a lot of work to do this month.
And my trip to London, Dublin and Galway with Hans in March is taking form - I booked plane tickets and made hotel reservations for London a few days ago.. Now it's up to Hans to make sure that we get from London to Dublin & Galway, and have some places to sleep while staying there.. Looking very much forward to that trip!!

A happy new year to you all! It hasn't gotten off to the best start, I must say. I have been fairly stressed for the past few weeks due to exams, I've suffered a bit from the weather (i.e. I've been ill almost constantly for the last month) and various personal relationship-things aren't going very good, at all!
On the positive side, I went to see Les Miserables a couple of weeks ago, and my new years promise is to watch at least one live show performance a month for the next year, which is do-able - I've booked a couple of tickets for a performance of The Importance of Being Earnest in Copenhagen on March 1, and I'm also scheduled to see the Reduced Shakespeare Company performing the Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged) in London, on March 24. But right now, that feels like a very distant future to me....
Apart from that, I'm writing an essay about Marxist Economics for one of my exams, due to be turned in within the next couple of weeks...
That's pretty much it - so do send me a cheerful note, please... :-)

I am *so* tired of Danish Social-democratic politicans (for the moment, not counting the ones in current Center-Liberal government). Yesterday they published their suggestions for a new welfare reform - more money to the elderly and families with children. among others - people who get a lot of money from the government already, as it is. People doesn't question whether it is right that such people should have more money - the problem is, however, that these money has to come from somewhere - in this case, "somewhere" is home owners, wealthy old people and ordinary Danish companies.
What really p***es me off is that people never questions whether it is right or not to take the money in the first place! How can it be, that people who work and invest their savings in a home of their own has to be punished? Why is it right to take more money from them, than the government does already (the Danish tax is one of the highest in the world, already)? How can it be reasonable to increase corporate taxes, when it is an established fact, that increased corporate taxes increases unemployment, thus increasing the welfare burden? Why must people who have lived in Denmark for 60+ years, and have been sensible enough to save some money for their golden years be made to pay for those who haven't? Why must politicans encourage irresponsibility and theft?
Social security is a mechanism to support the weakest in society - but in Denmark, the weakest are pretty well supported already. Families with children and elderly people have got more money in Denmark than in most other countries in the world (and a lot of the money originates from other peoples pockets) - why must they have more and more and more at the expense of everybody else????
I don't get it! It's a mystery!
Merry Christmas everybody - not Mogens Lykketoft, though!

Saw "Waiting for Godot" yesterday in a small Copenhagen theatre - recommendable! Most amusing, and well played - which can be said of all "That Theatre Company"s performances. 4 British actors performing in English in Copenhagen. I saw their performance of Bouncers in 2000, which was also quite good. Do visit them here. (Phantom of the Opera, which I watched with Louise a few weeks ago, was great too - surprisingly, as it had been translated into Danish...)
Up early this morning - had a lecture about sociological views on moral philosophy - Durkheim and Luhmann. Interesting, but not something you want to do at eight in the morning. As one of our lecturers said at the beginning of the semester "it's really a 14-16 course, where we can all go out an have a beer afterwards." - but due to logistical problems at the CBS it is an 8-10 course, this year, so....
And now, I'll probably go to sleep for an hour or so and then write some notes for a paper I have to write with Mads during the next 9 days.

More than a month since the last update - not very good, I admit - the only reason I began using Blogger for my Diary-updates was so that I would be able to update it more often.. And this won't even be a major update - just a short one to let those of you interested know what is currently going on in my life:
So, I'll continue where I left off on Oct 12:
The Muse concert on Oct. 16 was great - they may not be the best live band, but the music makes up for for that..
I turned 26 on Oct. 19 - which went well - family over for brunch (two days in a row), and some take-away for dinner with Louise..
I've been doing a lot of studying lately to prepare for the 3 essays (in 3 subjects) I'll have to write before Dec. 15. So, I've been reading Neo-Marxist litterature, discourse analysis, applied Luhmannian systems theory and the likes of it.
I got myself a sattelite dish on Monday - so now I can finally enjoy all that great British television which I have dreamt about for years :-)
And Lyngby Boldklub lost their last match of the season - the match was played in Lyngby against Kolding. Coincidentally it was the last matches for both managers/coaches - our man Hasse Kuhn is being replaced (by no wish of his own, unfortunately) after this season, and Koldings Richard Møller Nielsen stopped his career entirely - Richard was the man who took the Danish national team to the European Championship in 1992 - and won!!
And that's pretty much it - Louise and I are going to watch Phantom of the Opera on Sunday and Les Miserables in January - birthday presents - and I've got a few seasonal lunches (you know what I mean ;-) in my calendar the next month or so.. And then, of course, Celtic is playing Bayern Münich at Parkhead next week - so Hans and I will be at Dubliner as always to watch the Bhoys beat the Germans..
Enjoy the cold..

The last 2 weeks have been spent studying, going to the West coast of Jutland for a few days, studying some more, working, studying, and watching Lyngby win 4-0 against Slagelse - today, however, we lost 4-0 to Naestved - unfortunately I couldn't be there. We would have won if I had, wouldn't we?? Well, maybe not..
We haven't got any lectures next week due to fall vacation, so I've finally got the opportunity to catch up some of the stuff I haven't had the time to read the past few months.. So the next week - vacation week - will be spent, studying, working, studying some more, etc. - and also watching great British band Muse in Vega on Thursday and celebrating my 26th birthday on Sunday.
........ Until then .........

Nighttime. And a rare night without my girlfriend, who went to Jutland yesterday with a great part of her family, it is. I'm going over there as well this Thursday, but I have some studying to do until then... First time I'm "alone" in 7 years, actually... Go figure...
Still, being alone is no reason why one can't enjoy oneself, and so I'm trying to do just that - enjoying the evening with our cat and our rabbit, and listening to musicals (Sunset Boulevard, actually, which I've had on CD for a few years, but never heard until tonight.... )..
Honestly, I hate not living near London - London life is too good to miss, and Copenhagen is nowhere near as good! But I'll have to do until time is fit to do otherwise - and I suppose that a lot of other people are much worse off that me - still, that argument has never meant anything to me... Sad that other people are worse off, but that doesn't improve my own mood at all.. And why should it?!.
Sleep tight.
And go you celts!
